After an intense start to the game by both sides, it was the hosts RoundGlass Punjab who took the lead as Slovenian forward Luka Majcen sneaked in at the near post to head in the opener in the 23rd minute.

 

Punjab doubled their lead just before half-time as midfielder Samuel Lalmuanpuia swung in a free-kick over the wall and into the best.

Sreenidi Deccan FC put in a much improved performance in the second half and pulled one goal back through left back Shahabaaz who capitalised on some hesitant defending from RoundGlass Punjab to head in a goal in the 56th minute.

 

The Deccan Warriors kept trying to level the game but were unable to do so as they opened their 2022-23 Hero I-League season with a defeat.
