17 January, Hyderabad: Sreenidi Deccan FC overwhelmed RoundGlass Punjab FC 4-0 to return to the top of the standings in a Hero I-League Matchday 12 clash here at the Deccan Arena on Tuesday. Captain David Castaneda scored twice with defenders Shahabaaz and Dinesh Singh also getting on the scoresheet for the Deccan Warriors.

Sreenidi Deccan FC took the lead in the first half through left-back Shahabaaz who chased down the ball, forcing RoundGlass Punjab goalkeeper Kiran Limbu into error and tapping into an empty net in the 12th minute. Castaneda doubled their lead with his 10th goal of the season on the half hour mark with a rebound effort after being sent through by Mohammed Awal.

The second half was no different as Sreenidi Deccan dominated the ball, not allowing RoundGlass Punjab any opportunities. In the 61st minute, Faysal Shayesteh’s corner was met with a header at the back post by Dinesh Singh to make it 3-0. Castaneda then put the icing on the cake with a clinical finish from outside the box in the 87th minute.
