20 November, Goa: Sreenidi Deccan Football Club defeated Churchill Brothers 3-2 in a thrilling game on Sunday to notch their first win of the I-League season at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim. Songpu Singsit, Louis Ogana and David Castaneda scored for the Deccan Warriors who bounced back from their opening Matchday defeat against RoundGlass Punjab FC.

Sreenidi Deccan FC started off brightly in the first half by attacking their opponents on both wings. From one such move, Songpu received a pass from David on the left and he dribbled into the box and gave his side the lead with a deflected effort in the 25th minute.
Nigerian forward Ogana doubled the visitors’ lead by tapping in Rosenberg Gabriel’s low cross from the right in the 40th minute.

In the second half, captain David scored a third in the 67th minute to make it 3-0 for Sreenidi Deccan FC. It looked like the points were sealed but Churchill Brothers mounted a fightback and scored two goals within the space of 7 minutes to reduce the deficit and set up a thrilling finale.

However, Sreenidi Deccan FC held on and earned their I-League points of the season. The Deccan Warriors will now face TRAU FC on November 24 at the Deccan Arena in Hyderabad in their next game.
